So I picked up a copy of Noah Webster's American English Dictionary reprint of the 1828 edition.
American [noun] - A native of America; originally applied to the aboriginals, or copper-colored races, found here by the Europeans; but now applied to the descendants of Europeans born in America.
Americanism [noun] - The love which American citizens have to their own country, or the preference of its interests.
Americanize [verb] - To render American; to naturalize in America.
Sex [noun; from Latin, seco, to divide] - 1. The distinction between male and female; or that property or character by which an animal is male or female. The male sex is usually characterized by muscular strength, boldness and firmness. The female sex is characterized by softness, sensibility and modesty.
no verb attached to "sex" in this dictionary. Must have been a more contemporary (from 1828 to today) slang that has stuck.
Gender [verb] - To beget; but engender is more generally used.
Gender [verb] - To copulate; to breed. Leviticus xix (19)
Gender [noun, Latin genus but also Greek gennao (or something, its Greek to me)] - 1. Properly, kind; sort. Obsolete.
2. A sex, male or female. Hence,
3. In grammar, a difference in words to express distinction of sex; usually a difference of termination in nouns, adjectives and participles, to express the distinction of male and female. But although this was the original design of different terminations, yet in the progress of language, other words having no relation to one sex or the other, came to have genders assigned them by custom. Words expressing males are said to be of the masculine gender; those expressing females, of the feminine gender; and in some languages, words expressing things having no sex, are of the neuter or neither gender.
Seems pretty clear to me. I would rather be creative about other things than by expanding these two words.
If Putin were truly a madman, then he would go for a pre-emptive strike which has always been in line with Russian nuclear doctrine.
America has always equivocated that it would never launch a pre-emptive strike which is why we have a range of nuclear deterrence.
Still. A tactical nuke could be attempted and might be deemed worth the consequences depending on how far sanctions go.
Locals is pretty good for speaking freely. Was a nice chat with RekietaLaw during his call-in. Not exactly my envisioned future but, hey, it's silly and it's nice that America is able to allow people to chat like this once again.
:)
I wrote this up after my trip to South Korea trying to find a solution to the North Korea situation.
Wrote it up on January 18th, 2020. And then the world freaked out about Corona, among other things (cough America was busy impeaching its president cough)
"I am recovering from a nasty cold I picked up from my travels" ... Oh really, 2020 Brian, what is it that you were ill from? Excuse me, but you are canceled for not recognizing Corona as the worse plague ever to accurse the Earth. ... Looks like I actually was America's patient zero.
